Mikli's line features unique colours and shapes, and are a favourite among European celebrities and avant-garde Americans. Mikli claims his use of colour is inspired by his Lebanese Armenian heritage. His tag line “A frame to see as well as to be seen” conveys his intent on designing exquisite eyewear. In 1978, Mikli opened his design studio in Paris. By 1983, celebrities such as Elton John helped bring the line recognition by wearing and touting Mikli products. Kanye West wore Alain Mikli sunglasses in his music video, Stronger, which he specifically requested from the designer.


At his unique Parisian workshop, Alain Mikli and his team of skilled artisans develop over 300 models of frames each year. Only a handful are selected for market launch. From concept to each step in making the frames, absolutely everything is done by hand, without a single computer-aided application. Each model is the result of subtle gestures using traditional tools, refined details…and some improvisation!
